Edward Palovich

HUBBARD A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Tuesday October 27, 2020 at 12 noon at St. Patrick Roman Catholic Church with Rev. Michael Swierz officiating for Edward Palovich, 89, who died Wednesday October 21, 2020 at his daughter’s house in her arms. He was born July 15, 1931 in Campbell, a son of Michael and Susan Zahorsky Palovich and was a lifelong area resident.

Mr. Palovich, a 1949 graduate of Campbell High School was a member of St. Patrick Roman Catholic Church. He served proudly with the United States Army during the Korean War as a tank mechanic before returning home to start his career as a butcher / meat cutter where he worked for numerous grocery chains in the Youngstown area until he retired from Giant Eagle as a local meat department manager in 1983.

Ed was an avid hunter and fisherman that was always happy to share his skills and knowledge with the younger generation. He was also a skilled taxidermist that did countless fishing and hunting trophies for his friends and family.

More than anything Ed enjoyed spending time with his family, children and grandchildren. Ed and Ginny were standard fixtures at every school, athletic and social event that involved family and friends. They developed a large circle of friends at these function who looked forward to spending time with each other.

His wife, the former Virginia “Ginny” Scherl, whom he married July 26, 1952, died March 11, 2003.

Ed is survived by his sister, Ann Henik of Austintown; two daughters, Scherl Zamary and her husband Ed and Vicki Ruminski and her husband Jerry both of Hubbard; 5 grandchildren, Jordan (Jessica) Zamary of Columbus, Eric Zamary of Brookfield, Jarret (Abbey) Ruminski of Toronto, Troy Ruminski of Warren and Clay (Rebecca) Ruminski of Delaware and 4 great grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents; his loving wife Ginny; four brothers, Michael, Andrew, Paul and George Palovich.

Family and friends may call on Tuesday October 27, 2020 prior to the Mass from 10:00 AM to 11:45 AM at St. Patrick Roman Catholic Church.

Due to COVID-19, it is requested that all those in attendance observe social distancing and proper health protocols and ask that all guests, whose health allows, to please wear a face mask.

Interment will be at Hubbard Union Cemetery.

Arrangements are being handled by the Kelley-Cummins Funeral Home.
