HUBBARD Cheryl Ann Spiech Oyler, 47 of Hubbard, died Saturday morning, May 15, 2004, at St. Elizabeth Hospital Medical Center following a courageous fifteen-year battle with cancer. She was born January 18, 1957, in Youngstown, a daughter of Thaddeus and Florence Nicora Spiech and was a life long Hubbard resident.

Cheryl graduated from Hubbard High School in 1975 and earned her bachelor's degree in criminal justice from Youngstown State University in 1979. She worked at St. Elizabeth Hospital as a Lab Technician for 23 years and also was a wedding videographer on weekends. In more recent years she worked for Sonny Gruber and Associates Insurance and Investments in Hermitage, PA as the Office Manager.

A member of the First Presbyterian Church of Hubbard, she loved gardening and was a long time member of the Prime Thyme Herb Guild. She was very involved in her children's school activities and had served as a leader for her son's Cub Scout Troop and as a member of the Hubbard Athletic Boosters religiously supported her daughter's athletic endeavors.

A very active person, Cheryl loved traveling, camping, skiing, kayaking, biking, rollerblading and especially aerobics attending Get-n-Fit Aerobics daily for nine years. In 2001 she ran the Peace Race in Youngstown and placed fourth in her age group.

Cheryl was a loving, generous person who offered great strength and encouragement to others battling cancer.

Everyone whose life she touched will fondly remember her. Her spirit resides in her children, Kenny Paul Oyler II and Callie Ann Oyler, both of Hubbard; her mother, Florence Nicora Spiech of Hubbard; her two brothers, Richard (Bettyann) Spiech of Hubbard and Michael (Jody) Spiech of North Canton, OH; her aunt, Veronica Spiech Kakaruda and her two very close cousins, Kathy (Brian) Abend and Debbie Davis, all of Florida.

Her father is deceased.

Funeral service will be held 11:00 AM Tuesday at the First Presbyterian Church, Hubbard.

Friends may call at the Kelley-Robb Funeral Home on Monday, 4 to 8 PM and at the church on Tuesday from 10 to 11 AM.
