HUBBARD A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Thursday May 23, 2019 at 10:00 AM at St. Patrick Roman Catholic Church with Rev. Michael Swierz officiating for Allan “Al” Joseph Ondich, 84, who died Saturday morning May 18, 2019 at Liberty Health Care. He was born March 22, 1935 in Sharon, PA a son of John and Regina P. Rosati Ondich and had lived in Hubbard for almost 60 years.
Mr. Ondich, a graduate of Farrell High School, had served with the United States Army during the Korean Conflict and was a member of St. Patrick Roman Catholic Church. He was an office clerk for Sharon Steel for 38 years before retiring in 1992 and had also been the Hubbard Pool Supervisor for 12 years. Al was responsible for starting the Hubbard Swim Club and the Hubbard Track Club, he was the swim coach for Liberty and Canfield and was a licensed wrestling official and swimming official in Ohio and Pennsylvania. He was a member of the Blue Dolphin Swim Camp and a former member of the Knights of Columbus.
He leaves his wife, the former Rosemarie Caruso, whom he married September 29, 1956 at Our Lady of Mt. Carmel in Niles; a daughter, Kelly Steimle and her husband Thomas of Parma Heights, OH; a triplet brother, Edwin Ondich and his wife Betty of Nevada and two grandsons, Tommy and Timmy Steimle.
Al was preceded in death by his parents; a brother, Ronald Ondich; a sister, Elizabeth Wolfe and his triplet sister, Ellen Stewart.
Family and friends may call on Wednesday May 22, 2019 from 4:00 PM to 7:00 PM at the Kelley-Robb-Cummins Funeral Home.
Closing prayers will be held on Thursday May 23, 2019 at 9:15 AM at the Kelley-Robb-Cummins Funeral Home.
Interment will be at St. Anthony’s Cemetery in Hermitage, PA.
