NEW SPRINGFIELD William A. Shacklock, Sr., 74, died Sunday evening August 25, 2013 at St. Elizabeth Hospital in Boardman. He was born December 2, 1938 in Wilmington, Twp., PA a son of Clarence E. and Mary Iola Diday Shacklock and was a lifelong area resident.
Mr. Shacklock worked for Youngstown Sheet and Tube and also was a night patrolman for over 10 years for Youngstown Security. William owned and operated Fred M. Griffiths and Sons Roofing Co. from 1986 until his retirement in 2001. He was a member of Youngstown Baptist Church and was Past President of the Steel Valley Pioneers Club. William loved to play pool and was active in the CB Clubs in the 70's having the handle of "Steeple Jack". He also enjoyed collecting Hot Wheels, enjoyed fishing and bowling and held the title King of Bell Wick at Bell Wick Bowl in Hubbard in 1965. Most of all he enjoyed being a full time grandpa.
He leaves his wife, the former Norma L. Hall, whom he married September 23, 1962; three sons, Billy Shacklock of New Springfield, John W. Weaver of Columbiana and Donald A. (Charlene) Weaver of Utah; four daughters, Sandy (Charles) Van Fosson of New Springfield, Kay (Bill) Berthy of Mannington, WV and Carol Beveridge of Kingwood, WV, and Kathy Johnson of Columbus; two sisters, Helen Bailey of Florida and Shirley Wadford of South Carolina. William also leaves numerous grandchildren, great grandchildren and great great grandchildren.
William was preceded in death by a son, Bill Shacklock Jr.; three brothers, Joe, Wallace and Harold Shacklock and two sisters, Lillian Grant and Twila Grant.
Family and friends may call on Friday 5:00 to 8:00 PM at the Kelley-Robb-Cummins Funeral Home in Hubbard and also on Saturday from 10:00 to 10:30 at the funeral home.
Funeral services will be held Saturday 10:30 AM at the Kelley-Robb-Cummins Funeral Home.
Interment will be at Hubbard Union Cemetery.
