HUBBARD – Virginia K. Shearer, 88, died Thursday morning, June 27, 2013, peacefully at her home. She was born April 13, 1925, in Youngstown, a daughter of Fernando and Josephine Cerceres Mayorga and spent most of her life in the area.
Mrs. Shearer operated "Cut & Curl" beauty shop at Southside Hospital for 17 years, retiring in 1998. She took her Cosmetology training at the Ohio Beauty School of Youngstown and the Bruno Academy of Toronto. In addition, she held the position of Cosmetology instructor at Victor George Beauty School in Youngstown from 1967 to 1969. Many may remember her from the time when she ran her own beauty shop from 1956 to 1971 at Himrod and Medina Streets on the east side. She was a member of Victory Christian Center, the Hubbard Senior Citizens, and their nutrition program. Virginia also enjoyed dancing and will be missed by many family members and friends.
She leaves one daughter, one brother, two grandchildren, four great grandchildren and one great-great granddaughter.
She was preceded in death by her parents, a daughter, one grandson and all other siblings.
There are no calling hours or funeral services.
Arrangements are being handled by the Kelley-Robb-Cummins Funeral Home.
