Viola O'Connor (December 10, 1932 –November 16, 2025) Viola O'Connor; beloved wife, mother, sister, grandmother, and great-grandmother, passed away peacefully on November 16, 2025. Born on December 10, 1932, Viola lived a long and meaningful life centered around faith, family and love.

She was predeceased by her Dad James Fortune (1907-1975), her Mom Esther Weston (1914-2009), her husband, Peter O'Connor (1928-1999), and her sisters, Naomi Bretz (1931-2013) and twin sister Vesta Baird (1932-2012).

Viola is survived by her five children: Peter (Paula) O'Connor, Patti (Al) Brown, Patrick (Kenna Green) O'Connor, Penny (Richard) Shufritz, and John (Vicki) O'Connor and by her loving sister, Betty Clawson.

She was a proud grandmother to seven grandchildren: Lindsey (Jason) Diven, Kelly (Chris) Heineike, Valerie (Rob) Pace, Richard (Morgaine) Shufritz, Kevin O'Connor, Lauren Green and Jacob O'Connor.

Viola was also blessed with ten great-grandchildren: Connor Diven, Abby Diven, McKenzie Pace, Peter Heineike, Aria Shufritz, James Heineike, Cassidy Pace, Freya Shufritz, Myles Pace and Willow Shufritz.

She spent years caring for children in her home while their parents worked. Perhaps the greatest testament to her loving care is that when some of those individuals grew up and had their own children, they had her care for them too.

Viola volunteered at St. Patricks's School for many years and absolutely loved it, she enjoyed morning coffee and long chats with her friends, a challenging jigsaw or crossword puzzle, and rousing bingo game in the event area.

In lieu of flowers the family kindly requests donations to be made to the Tunnel to Towers Foundation, 2361 Hylan Blvd, Staten Island, NY 10306, in Viola's memory.

Friends and family may call on Saturday November 22, 2025 from 9:30 AM to 10:30 AM at the Kelley-Cummins Funeral Home, funeral services will follow at 10:30 AM, officiating is Deacon Michael Medvec.
