Obituary


LIBERTY Thomas S. Carey, 80 of Liberty, died Friday evening, October 4, 2002, at Northside Medical Center. He was born September 10, 1922, in Youngstown, a son of Thomas B. and Mary Lewis Carey and was a lifelong area resident.

Mr. Carey worked for the U. S. Steel Corp., Youngstown, for 37 years retiring in 1984. He was of the Methodist faith, enjoyed gardening and cooking and served with the Army in World War II.

His wife, the former Genevieve G. Ridel, whom he married May 29, 1948, died August 26, 2000. He leaves two sons, Thomas P. and David J. Carey, both of Liberty; two daughters, Shirley Ann (Frank) Short of Youngstown and Debra M. Gonda of Boardman; two sisters, Alice Baker of South Bend, IN and Joan Marx of Liberty; three grandchildren and three great grandchildren. His parents, a brother, John J. Carey, a sister, Ruth Glasser and a grandson, Matthew Short are deceased.

Funeral service will be held 11:00 AM Wednesday at the Kelley-Robb Funeral Home, Hubbard.

Friends may call at the funeral home on Tuesday, 5 to 8 PM and on Wednesday, one hour prior the service.
