HUBBARD A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10:00 AM on Tuesday at St. Patrick Roman Catholic Church with Fr. Melvin Rusnak officiating for Sylvia Groves, 78, who died Monday evening July 13, 2015 at Northside Hospital. She was born September 1, 1936 in New Castle, PA, a daughter of Fred and Mary Donley Reider and moved to Hubbard in 1971, coming from New Castle.
Mrs. Groves, a homemaker, was a member of St. Patrick Roman Catholic Church in Hubbard and former President of the Women's Auxiliary to VFW Post No. 3307. Sylvia enjoyed watching the Cleveland Cavs, especially LeBron James and also the Pittsburgh Steelers. She was well known for her cooking and baking, liked to play Bingo and especially spending time with her family.
She leaves her husband, Paul E. Groves, whom she married May 4, 1957; a son, Paul A. (Fiancé, Tracy McClearn) Groves of Hubbard; a sister, Erma Theiss of Sharon; a granddaughter, Nichole (Ron) Reed of Hubbard and two great grandchildren, Cyler and Paige Reed.
Sylvia was preceded in death by her parents, a brother, Ralph Reider, three sisters, Pearl Kritzer, Dolores Doyle and an infant sister.
Family and friends may call on Monday from 5:00 PM to 8:00 PM at the Kelley-Robb-Cummins Funeral Home.
Closing prayers will be held on Tuesday at 9:30 AM at the Kelley-Robb-Cummins Funeral Home.
Interment will be at Hubbard Union Cemetery.
