WARREN Shirley M. Zahurancik, 77, of Warren, died Monday evening, May 31, 2004, at Windsor House in Champion. She was born March 23, 1927 in North Dakota, a daughter of Myron and Rose Crepau Braaten and moved to Warren in 1991 from Long Beach, CA.

Shirley worked for the U.S. Postal Service for 20 years, retiring in 1990. She was a very strong-willed and independent woman who lived her life her own way. She took great pride in her home and gardening and loved her children very much. She enjoyed gardening, reading and cooking.

She leaves a son, Delbert Powell of Jonesboro, AK; a daughter, Kathy Hendricks of Warren; a brother, Ron Braaten of Cove Junction, OR; a sister, Olive Guggenmoss of Orange, CA; two grandchildren, Shannon Hendricks of Springfield, MO and Emily Powell of Jonesboro, AK.

Her parents, a brother, Keith Braaten and a sister, Marilyn Braaten preceded her in death.

Funeral services will be held 11:00 a.m. Thursday at the Kelley-Robb Funeral Home in Hubbard.

Friends may call from 10:00 to 11:00 a.m. on Thursday prior to the services.
