HUBBARD Samuel M. Barker Jr., 89, died Saturday morning August 23, 2025 at his home. He was born April 27, 1936 in Youngstown, a son of Cora and Samuel Barker Sr.

Mr. Barker attended North High School and was a member of Corner House Christian Church in Hubbard and CCV in Peoria, AZ. He served with the Ohio National Guard for 2 enlistments. Sam went on to auto body school and worked doing auto body repair for many years. In 1971 he joined his two brothers-in-law, William and Melvin West where they started a plastic extrusion company, West & Barker, Inc.. He worked there for 30 years before retiring in 2001. He enjoyed collecting classic cars, working in his garage and spending time with his family. Sam was always available to lend a helping hand to anyone that needed it. He was highly active up until his heart attack in October of 2024.

Sweethearts since high school, Sam married the former June West on December 12, 1959. The couple made their home in Liberty Township, Arizona and Hubbard. Together, they raised a son, Samuel (Mary) Barker III and a daughter, Susanne (Bill) Leone all of Canfield. He also leaves seven grandchildren, Samuel Barker IV, Justin (Shantell) Barker, Alexander Barker, Haylee (Patrick) Reed, Sydney Leone, Dominic Leone and Nicole Leone and two great grandchildren, Jace Barker and Nalani Reed.

He was preceded in death by his parents; a daughter, Laurie Barker and a grandson, Alexander Barker.

Family and friends may call on Saturday August 30, 2025 from 11:00 AM to 12:00 Noon at the Kelley-Cummins Funeral Home. Sam loved the Lord and was baptized into his service March 29, 2016. His Victory service will follow at 12:00 Noon at the funeral home with Pastor David Coxson officiating.

Interment will be at Green Haven Cemetery.
