HUBBARD CW3 S. Blane Hepfner, US Army, Schofield Barracks, Hawaii, formerly of Hubbard, died Wednesday, May 27, 2009, as the result of a helicopter crash. He was born August 4, 1980, in Youngstown, a son of Stanley B. and Renee M. Orr Hepfner and lived in Hubbard until 1997.

CW3 Hepfner has served with the Army since he enlisted following graduation from Hubbard High School in 1997 and was a helicopter test pilot. Blane enlisted in the Army because of his grandfather, Bob Orr, whom he idolized, had served with the US Army. He enjoyed motorcycle riding and participated in many charity rides with several different motorcycle organizations he belonged to. The military was his life but he always enjoyed returning to the area and visiting with family and friends.

He leaves his father and mother, Ken and Renee Possert of Hubbard; a daughter, Kathryn White of Massachusetts; one brother, William Panning of Hubbard; one sister, Janelle
Hepfner of North Carolina; a step sister, Carrie (Eric) Barr of Hubbard; a half sister, Rebecca Hepfner of New Jersey; his grandparents, Robert and Rhodena Orr of Hubbard, Joseph and Margret Possert of Hubbard and Adrienne Hepfner of Youngstown. In addition, he leaves several aunts, uncles, cousins and his many military brothers and sisters.

He was preceded in death by his grandfather, Samuel Hepfner.

Full military funeral services will be held Tuesday, 11:00 am at Hubbard Union Cemetery with the service conducted by the Military Honor Guard from Ft. Knox, KY.
