Obituary


HUBBARD Rudy J. Pishkur, 83 of Hubbard, died Thursday afternoon, April 1, 2004, at Shadyside Hospital, Pittsburgh, PA. He was born July 25, 1920, in Girard, a son of Joseph and Jennie Ivanich Pishkur and lived most of his life in Hubbard.

Mr. Pishkur was the Director of Store Engineering for the Atlantic and Pacific Tea Co. and retired in 1976 after 35 years of service. He also owned and operated Big S Surplus and Rudy's Luggage.

He attended Brookfield Methodist Church and served with the Civilian Conservation Corps. Rudy was very musically inclined and played the accordion and button box with the former Pishkur Brothers Orchestra and was a member of the Musicians Union. He was a member of the Hubbard Optimist Club where he had held many offices and had served as Lt. Governor in the Optimist International. An avid spots fan and athlete, he was a boxer, played AA baseball, was very active in youth sports and belonged to the Judge's Court Bocci League in Girard.

Mr. Pishkur also belonged to the Greater Youngstown Baseball Old Timers where he was named King of the Realm in 2001. He was also a member of the Carpenters Union, Local 171, the Girard Old Timers and served with the Army Intelligence in World War II.

He leaves his wife, the former Marjorie Ritenour, whom he married November 1, 1942; two daughters, Shirley (Thomas) Ferrand of Columbiana, OH and Nancy (George) Mezey of Pittsburgh, PA; one brother, Edward (Marianne) Pishkur of Tarpon Springs, FL; two sisters, Florence (Lou) Weigand of Danielson, CT and Millie Vasilik of Riverside, CA; six grandchildren, Sheri (Michael) Hartley of Columbiana, Sheli Ferrand of Boardman, Gregory, Gifford, Jordan and Kalin Mezey of Pittsburgh, PA; two great grandsons, Gannon and Hudson Hartley of Columbiana.

His parents and three brothers, Joseph, Albert and William Pishkur, preceded him in death.

Funeral services will be held at 11:00 AM Tuesday at the Brookfield Methodist Church.

Friends may call at the Kelley-Robb Funeral Home, Hubbard on Monday, 4 to 7 PM.
