HUBBARD Funeral services will be held Saturday 1:00 PM at the Kelley-Robb Funeral Home for Mr. Roy Arthur Zabel, 77 of Sunrise Assisted Living, Poland Ohio, formerly of Grace St, Hubbard who died Thursday morning of congestive heart failure at the home.
He was born August 15, 1923 in Youngstown, Ohio a son of Edward F. and Bertha Schmidt Zabel and was a life long area resident.
Mr. Zabel, worked for Ohio Bell Telephone as a lineman and a motor vehicle inspector for 39 years retiring in 1985. He was a member of the Telephone Pioneers of America. He served with the Army during World War II and received the American Theater Ribbon, Good Conduct Medal, and Victory Medal. He enjoyed sign painting and all sports.
He leaves his wife, the former Ruth Delores Myers, whom he married July 17, 1947; two sons Ed Zabel of Piqua, OH, and Raymond Zabel of Hubbard, OH; one daughter Tina Downard of Canfield OH; and three grandchildren. A sister Helen Beck is deceased.
Friends may call at the funeral home on Friday 5 to 8 PM.
