HUBBARD Rocco P. Petrella, 71 of Hubbard, died Saturday morning, May 8, 2004, at Northside Medical Center. He was born July 28, 1932, in Hubbard, a son of Salvatore and Maria Cassasanta Petrella and was a life long Hubbard resident.

Mr. Petrella worked for Hubbard Public Schools for 30 years in the maintenance department and as a bus driver retiring in 1994. After retirement he began working for Deer Creek Golf Course. In the 1960's he owned and operated Petrella Meat Packing.

Rocky was a member of Our Lady of Mt. Carmel Church, Youngstown, Hubbard Gridiron Club, Hubbard Wrestling Boosters, Northeastern Ohio Horse Pullers Association, Veteran of Foreign Wars, Post 3767 of Hubbard, Hello Brothers Club and the AFSAME Union. He served in Army from 1954 to 1956.

He enjoyed his grandchildren and horses. He loved watching his grandson Chris wrestle and play football, watching his granddaughter Cayla ride her horse and cutting the grass at Deer Creek Golf Course. He will be missed by all.

He leaves his wife, the former Laura M. DiCesare, whom he married October 20, 1956; a daughter, Deborah Duncan of Hubbard; two brothers, Michael (Viola) Pizzoferatto of Poland and James (Carmen) Petrella of Hubbard; three sisters, Phyliss Pagley and Cecelia Halicki, both of Hubbard and Viola DeSantis of Aliquippa, PA; a grandson, Christopher Duncan of Hubbard and a granddaughter, Cayla Duncan of Ft. Collins, CO.

His parents, a son, Samuel Petrella, a brother, Joseph Pizzoferrato and two sisters, Catherine Stabile and Connie Petrella, are deceased.

Funeral services will be held Tuesday, 10:15 AM at the Kelley-Robb Funeral Home and at 11:00 AM at St. Patrick Church.

Friends may call at the funeral home on Monday, 5 to 8 PM and on Tuesday, 9 to 10:15 AM.
