LIBERTY TWP Robert W. Waltz, 72, passed away Wednesday evening April 24, 2013 at his home. He was born July 11, 1940 in Ravenna, a son of Leonard and Helen Gardner Waltz and lived most of his life in the area.
Mr. Waltz was employed at U.S. Steel, James and Weaver and Reinnovations before retiring in 2009. He also served with the United States Army.
Robert enjoyed camping, NASCAR, westerns, bowling, ceramics and riding his motorcycle. He owned, operated and taught ceramics at the Darn Yarn & Gift Shop in Girard. He also visited 49 U.S. States and loved spending time with his family.
He leaves his wife, the former Rebecca C. Sarrach, whom he married on December 12, 1975; a son, Daniel Waltz of Liberty; two daughters, Ramona (Ron) Waltz of Youngstown and Victoria (Kenneth) McBride of Liberty; a sister, Shirley (William) Britton of Hickory, NC and seven grandchildren, Kenneth III, Nikki, Michaela, Jade, Xavier, Makenzie and Cheyenne. He also leaves his cherished lifelong friends, Mike Kaglic and Walter Brown and his beloved pets, Licorice and Moon.
He will truly be missed by all who knew and loved him. The family wishes to thank the VA Hospitals of Cleveland and Youngstown.
In lieu of flowers the family requests memorial donations be made to the family to help with funeral expenses.
