HUBBARD Robert Shodd, 84, died Monday afternoon July 4, 2011 at his home. He was born September 15, 1926 in Youngstown, a son of Martin and Erna Boldt Shodd and was a lifelong area resident.
Mr. Shodd worked for Truscon Steel for 30 years before retiring in 1974. He attended Victory Christian Center and served with the United States Army during World War II. Robert enjoyed hunting and was very passionate about fishing. He loved reading hunting and fishing magazines and did deer processing for family and friends. Robert was also well known for his jokes and storytelling.
His wife, the former Delores Irene Dripps, whom he married June 3, 1950, died October 24, 2006.
He leaves one son, Martin (Joann) Shodd of Hubbard; three daughters, Patricia (Ray) Moffitt, Dorothy (Tom) Wukelich and Diana (Rick) Keenan all of Hubbard; 16 grandchildren, 28 great grandchildren and 4 great great grandchildren; a daughter in law, Teddie Sturges of Masury and extended family, Clarence and Jean Redick.
He was preceded in death by his parents and stepfather, George Whittenbarger; a son, Robert Sturges and a sister, Bernice Shodd.
Funeral services will be held Friday 1:00 PM at the Kelley-Robb Funeral Home.
Family and friends may call on Thursday 5:00 to 8:00 PM at the funeral home and also on Friday from 12:00 to 1:00 PM at the funeral home.
Burial will be at Hubbard Union Cemetery.
