Obituary


HUBBARD Robert E. Malin, 83, of Hubbard, died Tuesday evening, October 5, 2004, at Country Club Retirement Center in Ashtabula. He was born April 9, 1921 in Hubbard, a son of Harry H. and Elma J. Veach Malin and was a life long Hubbard resident.

Mr. Malin was a salesman for Halls Motor Freight for 10 years, retiring in 1986 and prior to this was terminal manager for Modern Transfer. He was a member of First United Methodist Church in Hubbard and its Homebuilders Class, serving on various church committees and offices. Bob was a member of the National Watch and Clock Association and LST A34 Reunion Committee. A veteran of the U.S. Navy during World War II, he served on three ships that were sunk and did not suffer any injuries and was in the first wave going into Okinawa.

He leaves his wife, the former Wanda J. Quigley, whom he married on February 9, 1943; his son, Richard D. (Barbara) Malin of Ashtabula and two grandchildren, Travis and Jordan Malin.

Preceding him in death were his parents.

Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Friday at the Kelley-Robb Funeral Home.

Friends may call from 5:00 to 8:00 p.m. on Thursday at the funeral home.
