Obituary



HUBBARD Robert R. DeJulio, 73, of Hubbard died Wednesday at 3:20 p.m. at the Cleveland Clinic Foundation. He was born June 1, 1928, in Youngstown, OH, the son of Salvatore and Lucia Campana DeJulio, and was a Hubbard resident for most of his life.

Mr. DeJulio was a 1946 graduate of East High School and attended both Youngstown and Kent State Universities. He was a US Army veteran serving in the Korean War and was a member and past commander of the American Legion.

As a Hubbard City Councilman and a member of the Trumbull County Council of Governments, Mr. DeJulio served his community for twelve years. He also sat on the city's Zoning Board and was a Hubbard Union Cemetery Board Trustee.

A retired master plumber and building contractor for over forty years, he owned and operated Robert's Plumbing and Heating. He was a licensed real estate agent and a county plumbing inspector.

He was a member of Central Christian Church in Hubbard where he was an elder.

Mr. DeJulio was a sports enthusiast. He played semi-professional football for the Youngstown Bone Crushers. He was a member of the Arco Club of Youngstown and competed in the World Series of Bocce in Rome, New York. He also co-founded the Hubbard Bocce League.

A civic-minded man and a supporter of youth activities, Mr. DeJulio was a member of the Hubbard Optimist Club for forty-six years. He was a past president and served as the official timekeeper for the group's youth oratorical contests for twenty-five years. Each spring, he helped to organize Hubbard's Youth in Government Day. He also served as a Memorial Day Parade Chairman. He was a Hubbard Youth League football Commissioner and a Little League baseball manager.

Besides his wife, the former Catherine L. Secre, whom he married June 25, 1955, he is survived by two sons, Salvatore and Robert R., Jr., of Hubbard and two daughters, Janet Roberts of Girard and Candee Chambers of Hubbard; three brothers, Aldo of CA, Raymond and Alfred of Hubbard; two sisters, Della Palmer and Eleanor Conti, both of CA; and ten grandchildren. A brother, John, preceded him in death.

Funeral services will be Monday, 11:00 a.m. at the Kelley-Robb Funeral Home.

Friends may call at the funeral home on Sunday, 4 to 7 p.m.

Burial will be in Hubbard Union Cemetery.
