A Mass of Christian Burial, with Fr. Michael Swierz officiating, at 10:30 a.m. on Friday, October 16, 2015 at St. Patrick Church in Hubbard, preceded by closing prayers to be recited at 10:00 a.m. in the Kelley Robb Cummins Funeral Home, for Rita Bolchalk, 88, who passed away on Tuesday, October 13, 2015.
Rita was born November 29, 1926 in Hubbard, a daughter of the late James and Lucy (Carano) Vernell and was a 1945 graduate of Hubbard High School.
As an active member of St. Patrick Catholic Church, Rita was a member of the Disciples of Mary and its duty of visiting the sick each week and was also a member of both the Senior's group and Altar & Rosary Society of the church.
She worked at Al Tell Pharmacy, The Village Goldsmith Jewelry Store, and Devine's Shop N Save. Rita enjoyed visiting with family and friends, playing golf, cards, bowling, gardening, ball room dancing and her grandchildren.
Rita will be sadly missed by her family; her daughters Julie Fox of Hubbard, Donna (Donald) Hoscheit of St. Charles, Illinois, and Phyllis (David) Evans of Champion; a sister Julie Smaldino, a brother Jim (Sue) Vernell, four grandchildren; Anne Marie Fox, Charles (Ashley) Fox, Robert Hoscheit, Matthew Hoscheit, and two great grandchildren.
Besides her parents, she is preceded in death by her husband, Robert Bolchalk, whom she married on August 5, 1950, a daughter Paula, two brothers, and four sisters.
Calling hours will take place at the Kelley Robb Cummins Funeral Home where friends may call from 8:30 a.m. to 9:50 a.m. on Friday, October 16, 2015.
The family would like to offer a special thank you to Sue Blackburn, Rita's caregiver and to the entire Windsor House Liberty Arms Assisted Living & Health Center staff, nurses and aides for their kindness and care.
