HUBBARD Ramon Santiago, 79, of Hubbard, died Saturday, November 20, 2004, at Northside Medical Hospital. He was born March 4, 1925, in Puerto Rico, a son of Leopoldo and Maria Melendez Santiago and came to the United States 48 years ago. He has lived in Hubbard for the past 12 years.

Mr. Santiago worked for the Republic Steel Corp. for 32 years retiring in 1983. He was a member of St. Rosa de Lima Church where he belonged to the Holy Name Society, the Cursillista and the Legion of Mary. He was also a member of the Sons of Boringun Social Club, Youngstown and he enjoyed gardening and woodworking.

His wife, the former Maria R. Melendez, whom he married January 3, 1945, died March 24, 1998. He leaves five sons, Jose "Joe" (Carmen) Santiago of Campbell, Arnaldo (Cindy) Santiago of Hubbard, Orlando (Diane) Santiago of Lake Milton, Leopoldo Santiago of Warren and Rex Santiago of Melbourne, FL; five daughters, Cleo (Ben) Sanchez of Hempstead, NC, Maria (Elogio) Colon of Glen Heights, TX, Aida Lou Perez and Margarita "Maggie" Santiago, both of Youngstown and Patricia (Frank) Cherpak of Austin, TX; two brothers, Victor Santiago of Puerto Rico, Felix Rivera of Youngstown; three sisters, Claudia Santiago Melendez of New York, NY, Auraura Santiago of Puerto Rico and Carmen Santiago of Youngstown; 17 grandchildren and 13 great grandchildren.

His parents, four brothers, Samuel, Leopoldo, George and Roberto Santiago and a sister, Tomasita Santiago are deceased.

Funeral services will be held Wednesday, 9:15 am at the Kelley-Robb Funeral Home, Hubbard and at 10:00 am at St. Rosa de Lima Church, Youngstown.

Friends may call at the Kelley-Robb Funeral Home on Tuesday, 5 to 8 PM.
