Obituary

HUBBARD Phillip Glen Thompson, Sr. went home to be with our Lord on Monday evening October 26, 2015. He was born November 23, 1958, in Warren, a son of the late Kenneth G. and Mildred M. Wagoner Thompson and had lived in Hubbard for 4 years, coming from Kent.



Phillip served with the United States Air Force for 5 years and has also served with the Army National Guard for 25 years, serving in Iraq and Afghanistan. He was most recently employed by Flying J Travel Plazas and formerly worked for the Kent School System for many years as a custodian.



He was a member of the Ravenna VFW, the Kent VFW and the Hubbard VFW. He was also a member of the American Legion in Stow, the Cleveland 1st Calvary, TREA and the Brotherhood of Tankers.



He was a loving husband of the former Janet M. Fisher, whom he married March 18, 1978; a devoted father of Phillip Jr. and James Matthew both of Hubbard; beloved brother to Kenneth (Nancy) Thompson of Indiana, James (Janie) Thompson of Akron, Terry Thompson of Kent and Thomas Thompson of Akron; cherished son-in-law of Lillie Cheatwood of Ravenna; beloved brother-in-law to the late Phillip Nelson of Ravenna; James (Darlene) Fisher of Florida, Joseph Fisher of Ravenna, Tina (Rich) Kelly Daniels of Streetsboro and Judith (Greg) Proffitt of Atwater.



Phillip was a loving grandpa to Jocelynne and beloved father-in-law to Dawn Spry of Florida and also leaves behind many cousins, nieces, uncles, aunts and close friends. He was a loyal brother to his extended military family and a caring co-worker to his Flying J family and many others.



He was preceded in death by his parents and a sister, Kathy Thompson.



A Celebration of life will be held on Saturday November 7, 2015 from 11:00 AM to 3:00 PM at the Stow VFW, 3733 Fishcreek Rd., Stow, OH 44224.



Arrangements were handled by the Kelley-Robb-Cummins Funeral Home, 709 N. Main St., Hubbard, OH 44425.
