HUBBARD Paul V. Smith, 86, went to be with his Lord and Savior and healer and back with the love of his life Ella Mae on Wednesday March 9, 2016 at Park Vista. He was born May 22, 1929 at his grandparents farm house in Geneva, PA a son of Homer Vincent and Pearle June Peterson Smith and was a lifelong Hubbard resident.

Mr. Smith was a graduate of Hubbard High School and then worked as an accountant at LTV Steel, retiring in the late 1980's. After his retirement, he worked for the Garvy Corporation and Schwebel's Bakery in accounting and had also worked at H & R Block for over 40 years. Paul was a member of Chestnut Ridge Church of God where he served as Treasurer for 6 years and an offering counter for over 20 years and was a former member of the Evangelical Congregational Church of Hubbard. Paul volunteered for the Mahoning County Child Evangelism Fellowship. He loved anything and everything to do with the New York Yankees and also enjoyed collecting coins.

His wife, the former Ella Mae Smith, whom he married September 11, 1954, died June 14, 2013.

Paul leaves a son, Paul V. Smith II and a daughter, Dawn P. Smith both of Hubbard. He also leaves several cousins, nieces and nephews and a large extended family as well as his church family.

He was preceded in death by his parents, his wife Ella Mae; a brother, Wayne Smith and an infant brother, Rodney.

The family wishes to thank the entire staff at Park Vista for the wonderful and compassionate care Paul received while in their care, especially the Nursing One staff.

Memorial services will be held on Saturday April 2, 2016 at Chestnut Ridge Church of God at 1:00 PM with Pastor Robert J. McFarland officiating.
