LIBERTY Paul M. Fentress, Sr. 78, died Saturday, November 15, 2008, at Hospice House. He was born February 5, 1930, in Princess Anne County, Virginia, a son of Lloyd C. and Hattie Chappell Fentress.
Paul grew up in Princess Anne County, Virginia and attended Princess Anne High School. He was employed by Monsanto Chemicals as a machine operator in Norfolk, VA for several years. He served in the U.S. Air Force for four years, where he was stationed in Fairbanks, Alaska. After moving to Youngstown, he worked for Oldberg Manufacturing for almost 20 years. Later, he was employed by LTV Steel in Warren, retiring after working there for several years.
He enjoyed hunting, NASCAR, riding snowmobiles with his sons and riding dirt bikes. He also enjoyed spending time with his numerous grandchildren.
His wife, the former Mary Edra Banks, died April 18, 2003. He leaves three sons, Paul M. (Susan) Fentress Jr. of Campbell, Ron W. (Faye) Fentress of Girard and Roger B. (Sandy) Fentress of Liberty; a brother, Lloyd A. Fentress of Norfolk, VA; two sisters, Doris F. Hampton of Norfolk, VA and Phyllis L. Slate of Chesapeake, VA; seven grandchildren and two great grandchildren.
In addition to his wife, he was preceded in death by his parents and his step mother, Ernestine Ange Fentress.
Private funeral services were held Monday afternoon at the Kelley-Robb Funeral Home, Hubbard.
There were no calling hours.
