Obituary


HUBBARD A Funeral Mass will be held on Monday January 11, 2016 at St. Patrick Roman Catholic Church for Paul Henry Chestnut, 83, who died Tuesday evening January 5, 2016 at Piedmont Fayette Hospital in Fayetteville, GA. He was born July 6, 1932 in Farrell, PA a son of Ludwik and Maria Januszko Czesnakowicz and lived in Hubbard until 1999 when he retired to Tellico Village, TN.

Mr. Chestnut was a machinist for General Motors Corporation for 30 years, retiring in 1999 and formerly worked for McKay Machine for 5 years. He attended Youngstown State University and was a veteran of the United States Navy.

Paul started Hubbard High School's Wrestling program in 1965 and the Hubbard Youth Wrestling Program later. He was a wrestling official and coach and became a licensed wrestling official in Ohio and Pennsylvania in 1969 and 1972 respectively. Paul was the founder of the Steel Valley Area Wrestling Officials Association in 1975, was inducted into the Eastern Ohio Wrestling League Hall of Fame and the Ohio Wrestling Officials Hall of Fame. He also was a football coach at Hubbard.

While he was in Tellico Village he was a member and officer of the Polish Heritage Club, the "Linksters" golf league, and an officer for the Citizens Observers Patrol for the Loudon County Sheriff's Department.

He was a member of St. Patrick Roman Catholic Church in Hubbard and St. Thomas Church in Lenoir City, TN and was an avid fisherman, skier and woodworker.

He leaves his wife, the former Rosemary Makara, whom he married November 8, 1952; a son, Mark Chestnut of Grass Lake, MI; two daughters, Mary Ann Johnson of Hubbard and Sandi (Matt) Bramblett of Atlanta, GA; a brother, Albert (Irene) Chestnut of Hubbard; a sister, Ann Vasko of Canfield; 5 grandchildren and 4 great grandchildren.

Paul was preceded in death by his parents; seven brothers, Joseph, Casmir, Frank, Henry, Louis, Adam and Edward Czesnakowicz; two sisters, Phyllis and Christiana Czesnakowicz and a grandson, Michael Dripps.

Family and friends may call on Sunday January 10, 2016 from 1:00 PM to 3:00 PM at the Kelley-Robb-Cummins Funeral Home and also on Monday, one half hour prior to the funeral mass at St. Patrick Roman Catholic Church from 10:30 AM to 11:00 AM.
