BROOKFIELD Norman F. Guyton, 60, of Brookfield, died on Thursday, March 20, 2008 at Trumbull Memorial Hospital. He was born on March 15, 1948, in Youngstown, a son of Ervin E. and Vera Mae Consier Guyton and was a lifelong area resident.
Mr. Guyton worked at General Motors Corporation in Lordstown for 32 years, retiring in 1998. He was a member of Liberty United Presbyterian Church, where he was a former trustee. Norman was a 1967 graduate of Austintown Fitch High School and a U.S. Army veteran, having served in Viet Nam from 1968 – 1970 and received two Purple Hearts. Norm liked to fish and hunt and his main pastime was listening to the Cleveland Indians on the radio.
He leaves his wife, the former Ruth Anne Walker, whom he married on January 13, 1968; two daughters, Kimberly (Rich) Osberg and Holly Kurcon, both of Brookfield and a brother, Donn (Andrea) Guyton of Brookfield.
Norm was the proud grandfather of Richie Osberg, Austin Osberg, Kaitlyn Kurcon & Autumn Williams. He was referred to as "grandpappy" by his oldest grandson, Richie. They used to sit in the rocker and eat potpourri (aka pepperoni) and watched Walker Texas Ranger together. He was also especially proud of Austin, known as his high achiever, especially in band. Katie called him "Papa" and she will miss playing with him in the yard. Our baby Autumn will miss her Papa, everyday he would bring her a Hershey candy bar from the store without fail. He was also exceptionally proud of his two nieces, Heather & Kari Haywood. They will miss him terribly. He will be sadly missed by his friends and family. Till we meet again, WE LOVE YOU!
Preceding him in death were his parents, a sister, Evelyn Simmons and a niece, Denise Mazda.
Funeral services will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Tuesday at the Kelley-Robb Funeral Home in Hubbard.
Family and friends may call from 5:00 to 8:00 p.m. on Monday at the funeral home.
