Obituary


HUBBARD Norma Young Reed, 89, passed away Tuesday May 18, 2010 at her home. She was born October 28, 1920 in Youngstown, a daughter of Peter and Bertha Yashnik of Brookfield and was a lifelong area resident.

Norma worked at South Side Hospital (Maternity Department), Republic Rubber, the Ravenna Arsenal and for the F.W. Woolworth and Woolco Department stores for over 23 years. Norma also was an agent for the Monumental Life Insurance Company where she retired in 1983. She was a member of the Corner House Christian Church of Hubbard.

During retirement she drove the Hubbard Senior Citizen Van, sang with the Over the Hill Band and enjoyed ballroom dancing for which she received many awards. Norma also loved to sew, crochet and play the organ. She was a wonderful mother, wife and grandmother and will be sadly missed by her family.

She leaves her husband, Ronald Reed, whom she married June 21, 1997; two sons, Orville R. Schuller of Hubbard, John (Janet) Schuller of Hubbard; three daughters, Jessica (Herb) Good of Hubbard, Norma Jean (Steve) Torsky of Mineral Ridge and Christine Cummings of Everett, MA; a stepdaughter, Debra Reed of New Hampshire, a stepson, George Young of Concord, CA; two sisters, Alice (Harvey) Morrison of Vienna and Gloria Martincic of Olmsted Falls, OH; fourteen grandchildren and twelve great grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents and a brother, Attorney Steve Yashnik and a sister Stella Mikita.

Calling hours will be on Monday, May 24 from 10:00 AM to 12:00 Noon at Kelley-Robb Funeral Home in Hubbard. A prayer service will follow and a graveside burial will be at Hubbard Union Cemetery. There will be a dinner following at the Corner House Christian Church for family and friends.
