HUBBARD Nick Roman, 78, of Hubbard, died Tuesday evening, June 3, 2008, at his residence. He was born on September 10, 1929, in Hubbard, a son of John and Pauline Dragas Roman and was a lifelong Hubbard resident.
Mr. Roman was a licensed boiler operator at Powell Pressed Steel Corporation for 31 years, retiring in 1981. He was of the Romanian Orthodox faith, a former member of the Moose Club in Sharon, PA and a veteran of the Korean War, serving as a Sergeant in the U. S. Army. He collected trains and Western wear, especially hats and boots and enjoyed doing yard work and watching Army and Cowboy movies. Nick also enjoyed spending time with his family and with Sam Joe, Kaala and Nick.
He leaves his wife, the former O. Joann Cunningham, whom he married on October 2, 1976; his children, Sharon (Joseph) Pedaline of Hubbard, Karen (Bill) DeMoss of Hubbard, Thomas Karpinski, Jr. of Hubbard, Ronald (Melissa) Karpinski of Youngstown and Richard (Nanette) Karpinski of Youngstown; a sister, Elizabeth Reeher of Hubbard; 17 grandchildren and 2 great-grandchildren.
His parents and two sisters, preceded him in death.
Funeral services will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday at the Kelley-Robb Funeral Home in Hubbard, with Pastor Ernest and Kay Cunningham officiating.
Family and friends may call from 5:00 to 8:00 p.m. on Friday at the funeral home.
