Minister Gene Pandone's Obituary


HUBBARD Minister Donald Gene Pandone was born on November 23, 1931 in Youngstown, Ohio to Louis and Libertina (Giovanni) Pandone and died Wednesday evening, May 17, 2006, at Liberty Health Care Center. He was a 1949 graduate of Chaney High School and attended 2 years at Youngstown State University. He was a U. S. Air Force veteran, having served 4 years from 1949 to 1953 which was during the Korean conflict. He worked at Graybar Electric Co., then Emerson Electric Supply Co. of Farrell, PA, for 29 years, retiring as full time in December 1996 and part-time in May 2005.
Donald married Teresa J. Manes on May 26, 1956 and they were blessed with three wonderful children: Karen, Michael and David. He has two very talented grandsons, Benjamin and Canon.
Donald has attended and been a member of The Church of Jesus Christ, headquartered in Monongahela, PA, all of his life. He made his covenant with the Lord and was baptized on November 10, 1956. He was ordained a Minister of the Gospel on October 16, 1966, and licensed by the State of Ohio.
Donald's hobby was photography and he had a great love of varied types of music: classical, jazz, and gospel. He sang with The Youngstown Gospel Quartet for many years. His favorite love song, which he liked to sing and play for Teresa, was "Look At Us". He played and sang it to her until he could speak no more.
He enjoyed riding his mountain bike, which he would ride up to 20 miles on the local bike trails until his illness in May of 2005.
Donald leaves his wife, Teresa, of 50 years, a daughter, Karen (Dave) Haley of Sterling Hts., MI, two sons, Michael (Karen Jo) of Allen Park, MI, and David of Phoenix, AZ, his mother, Libertina, and a brother, Richard (Wanda) of Niles, OH, and two grandsons, Benjamin and Canon Ciccati, of California. Donald was preceded in death by his father, Louis Pandone.
Donald has been a very devoted husband, son, father, and grandfather to each of his family members. They have described him as loving, gentle, compassionate, kind, caring, dedicated, dependable, peacemaker, a gentleman in the truest sense of the word. During the difficult days of his illness, he never lost his sense of humor.
Don's favorite saying was "Wherever you go, there you are."
A memorial service will be at The Church of Jesus Christ, 185 N. Canfield-¬Niles Rd., Youngstown, OH, on Saturday, May 27, 2006 at 11:00 a.m. The family will receive friends prior to the service at 9:45 a.m.
Private graveside services were held on Saturday, May 20, at Tod Homestead Cemetery and was officiated by Ministers of The Church of Jesus Christ.
In lieu of flowers, the family asks that contributions be made to the Brain Tumor Institute, c/o The Cleveland Clinic Foundation, 9500 Euclid Avenue, Cleveland, OH 44195.
Arrangements were handled by The Kelley-Robb Funeral Home in Hubbard.
