MASURY Mr. Michael Shevetz, 77, of Masury, died Friday morning, March 1, 2002, at St. Elizabeth Hospital Medical Center. He was born August 29, 1924 in Lowellville, OH, a son of Peter and Anna Gardos Shevetz and was a lifelong area resident.
Mr. Shevetz owned and operated Shevetz Maintenance and worked as an equipment repair man for 27 years at Quaker Steak & Lube, Sharon, PA. He was an electrician for GATX for 15 years before retiring in 1975. Mr. Shevetz was a member of St. Patrick Church, Hubbard. He served with the United States Navy during World War II, was a member of the American Legion, Lowellville Post No. 247 and a member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars, Struthers Post No. 3538.
He leaves his wife, the former, Helen Gbur, whom he married January 8, 1952; three sons, Michael J. Shevetz of Cincinnati, OH, John Peter Shevetz of Austin, TX and James S. Shevetz of Hubbard; a daughter, Karen Rentz of Hubbard; four sisters, Ann Primavera of Lowellville, OH, Kay Opsitnik of Orem, UT, Dorothy Iudiciani of Lowellville, OH and Margaret Kollar of Struthers, OH; three grandchildren, Timothy, Nicole and Michael. Five brothers, John, Peter, Stephen, Andy and Joe Shevetz and two sisters, Mary Kotouch and Helen Retort are deceased.
Funeral services will be held Tuesday 9:30 AM at the Kelley-Robb Funeral Home, Hubbard and 10:00 AM at St. Patrick Church, Hubbard.
Friends may call at the Kelley-Robb Funeral Home on Monday 5 to 8 PM.
