MC DONALD Mary Ellen Karabin, 80, of McDonald, died Monday evening, September 11, 2006, at her residence. She was born on February 20, 1926, in Hubbard, a daughter of Modesty J. and Helen Catherine Connors Petten, living most of her life in Hubbard and moving to McDonald 7 years ago.
Mrs. Karabin was a sales clerk at the former Hills Department Stores for 20 years and previously worked at St. Elizabeth Hospital. She enjoyed camping, traveling and reading.
Her husband, Paul Karabin, whom she married on November 27, 1976, died on February 20, 1998.
She leaves a son, Jerry (Jennifer) Robbins of Boardman; a daughter, Helen (Vernon) Sharp of Boardman; a brother, John (Delphine) Petten of Parma and a sister, Rita (Armand) Carlucci of Conneaut, OH; 7 grandchildren, Tom, Kelly, Tricia, Jennifer, Steven, Judi and Zachary and 11 great-grandchildren, Hayden, Sage, Ian, Alexis, Jake, Carson, Cassie, Morgan, Logan, Vincey and Nicholas.
She also leaves her late husband Paul's children, sons, Larry (Diane) Karabin of Youngstown, Ken (Ann) Karabin of VA and Gary Karabin of MD; daughters, Wendy Bellis of Youngstown and Gail DeMartino of Canfield; daughter-in-law, Donna Karabin of VA; 10 grandchildren and 7 great-grandchildren.
Besides her husband, her parents and Paul's son, Jim Karabin, preceded her in death.
Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Thursday at the Kelley-Robb Funeral Home in Hubbard.
Friends may call from 5:00 to 8:00 p.m. on Wednesday and from 10:00 to 11:00 a.m. on Thursday at the funeral home, prior to the services.
