SALEM Marilyn "Mimi" McDermott Bryant, 86, formerly of Hubbard, finished her course in this life on July 19, 2016 when the Lord beckoned her to her eternal home. Marilyn the oldest of 3 girls, was born in Elmira, NY on April 26, 1930 to George M. and Velma Davis McDermott. She moved to Youngstown in 1946 and graduated from the last "winter class" of The Rayen School in January 1947. Marilyn eloped with Robert Eugene Bryant on June 21, 1947. After being divorced for 38 years; she was reunited with Robert, the love of her life. They came to much healing and enjoyed one another until his death on December 12, 2010. Thanks to the Lord Jesus, her later years were filled with much enjoyment and peace. Mimi was a member of Cornerstone Assembly of God in North Lima. She is survived by daughters, Ronda (David) Frederick of Florida, the Rev. Roxanne (the Rev. Kerry) Dean, Barbara (Kevin) Carney; sister, Kathi Percival of Alabama; grandchildren, Robert Zaku, Karen Foerster, Erin Dean Marks, Amanda Sierra and Caitlin Mould; 20 great grandchildren and 2 great-great grandchildren. Marilyn had worked for McKelvey's Department Store (candy and draperies), G. F. Business Equipment, Kmart 4229 (lay-away) and as a courier for Porta X-Ray of Ohio, Inc. She is predeceased by her youngest daughter, Melissa Sue, her beloved Robert, her parents, and sister, Jeannie Barton. Mimi will be greatly missed, not only by her family, but also by the staff of Essex II of Salem, who loved her polite and easy-going ways, and "her" Shih Tzu, Oreo, who was always at home on her lap. The family would like to thank Darlene and all the staff at Essex II for the caring, excellent attention that each one gave Mimi. We so appreciate the quality of life and dignity that you brought her to and sustained right up until the end.
