SHARPSVILLE, PA Lydia �Lil� Vargo, 90, formerly of Hubbard, died on Sunday, January 6, 2008, at Sharon Regional Health System, surrounded by her family. She was born on July 28, 1917, in Slickville, PA, a daughter of Charles and Mary Nagy Lefler, moving to Youngstown in 1924, to Hubbard in 1954 and Sharpsville in 1984.
Mrs. Vargo, a homemaker, together with her husband, Michael, had owned and operated Vargo�s Market in Hubbard. She was involved in many social organizations, including Eastern Star, ABWA and the Mothers of Twins Club. She loved to dance, bowl, play Scrabble and do crossword puzzles. Lil loved spending time with her family and was tireless, unselfish and never complained.
Her husband, Michael Vargo, whom she married in June 1947, died in July 1975.
She leaves a son, Michael �Mickey� (Karen) Vargo of Boardman; three daughters, Linda (Carl) Stickelmeyer, with whom she made her home, Janice Vargo and Joyce Doyle, all of Sharpsville; six grandchildren, Emily Vargo of Cambridge, MD, Michael and Christopher Vargo of Hubbard, Lydia and Irene Doyle of Sharpsville and Brian Battaglia of Atlanta, GA and former daughter-in-law, Carole (Cook) Vargo.
Besides her husband, preceding her in death were her parents, a stillborn son, a brother, James Lefler and a sister, Mary Csatary in Hungary.
Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Wednesday at the Kelley-Robb Funeral Home in Hubbard.
Family and friends may call from 5:00 to 8:00 p.m. on Tuesday at the funeral home.
