AUSTINTOWN Lonnie C. Burrell, 78, of Austintown, died Tuesday morning, November 7, 2006 at Northside Medical Center. He was born on July 17, 1928, in Struthers, a son of Charley Simpson and Fannie Mae Farner Burrell and was a lifelong area resident.
Mr. Burrell owned and operated Burrell Moving and Hauling for 10 years, retiring in 1990 and prior to this worked for LTV Steel Corporation for 31 years, retiring in 1980. A U. S. Army veteran, he was a member of St. Christine Church in Youngstown and a volunteer with Forum Health Senior Meals at Zion Lutheran Church. Lonnie enjoyed bowling, gardening and baking and was an avid football fan of Ohio State and Youngstown State Universities.
He leaves his wife, the former Florence Mazur, whom he married on July 22, 1950; two sons, Duke Burrell of Hubbard and Rick (Ellen) Burrell of Liberty; two daughters, Linda Swartzen of Boardman and Connie (Russell) Vinion of Austintown; a brother, David (Goldie) Burrell of Masury; four granddaughters, Jo Lynn Rotunno of Youngstown, Jessica Vinion of Youngstown, Sarah Vinion of Austintown and Krystal Vinion of Youngstown and 14 great-grandchildren.
His parents and four brothers, James Carrie Burell, Golden Francis Burrell, Jesse Lee Burrell and Gus Jackson Burrell and two sisters, Mary Burrell Shaffer and his twin sister, Bonnie Bell Nichols, preceded him in death.
Funeral services will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday at St. Christine Church in Youngstown.
Friends may call from 2:00 to 4:00 p.m. and from 7:00 to 9:00 p.m. on Friday at the Kelley-Robb Funeral Home in Hubbard and from 9:00 to 10:00 a.m. on Saturday at the church, prior to the service.
