HUBBARD Laverna Raseta, 86, of Hubbard died suddenly on Thursday. She had been a resident at Liberty Assisted Living Center since November 2008. Mrs. Raseta was born on April 9, 1923, a daughter of William O. and Henrietta Maguire Stiver, and was a lifelong resident of Hubbard.

Mrs. Raseta was a 1941 graduate of Hubbard High School. During WWII, she worked as an inspector at the Sharon Steel Corporation. She later worked at Harvell�s in Hubbard, drove school bus for the Brookfield School District for 16 years, and was a licensed cosmetologist and owned her own beauty shop. She was a lifelong member of the First Baptist Church of Hubbard and its Up and Going Sunday School Class. She enjoyed ceramics, baking, and winters in Jensen Beach, Florida.

Her husband, Nicholas Raseta, whom she married November 10, 1943, died November 14, 2003. She leaves one son, Thomas G. (Marla) Raseta Sr. of Liberty; two daughters, Kathy Link of Stevensville, MD and Sharen Inskeep of Hubbard; five grandchildren, Laura (John) Maximovich of Dublin, OH, Thomas (Sheri) Raseta of Hubbard, Dr. Patricia Link, DVM, Estelle Manor, NJ, Michael Inskeep, Henderson, NV, Dr. Kelley (Joshua) Simms of Columbia, MD, and six great grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents, six sisters, Margaret Stiver, Barbara Seavers, Catherine Simmons, Myrtle Gray, Gladys Edwards, Lillian Ellis, and one brother, James Stiver.


Funeral services will be held on Tuesday, June 16, 2009, 11:00 AM at the Kelley-Robb Funeral Home in Hubbard.

Family and friends may call on Monday 5:00 to 8:00 PM at the funeral home.
