Kathryn Thomas Peterson's Obituary


HUBBARD Kathryn Rose Thomas Peterson of Hubbard, died Wednesday, December 28, 2005 at her family's home in Des Moines, Iowa, from complications of emphysema. She was born October 5, 1921, in Brookfield, OH, a daughter of Thomas John and Rose George Thomas. Kathryn grew up in Sharon, Pennsylvania and graduated from Kent State University with a degree in nutrition. On July 5, 1947, she married Stanley E. Peterson. They celebrated 54 wonderful years of marriage until his death on December 31, 2001.

Kathryn Peterson had a wealth of friends and always lived life to the fullest. As a schoolteacher, she taught math and science and was known for her love of students, sports, theatre and dance. During the early years of her life, she was "Mrs. FBI" and later, she was known as "Mrs. Chief of Police" while Stanley was Chief and she rode sidekick on patrol. Kathryn will always be remembered by visitors, friends and family as the consummate hostess.

Kathryn is survived by her sons, Dwight Thomas Peterson, a lawyer in Philadelphia and Gregory Eben Thomas Peterson, a physician in Des Moines. She was most proud of her grandchildren, Erin Rose Peterson and Blake G. Peterson.

Funeral services will be held Thursday, January 5, 2006, at 9:15 am at the Kelley-Robb Funeral Home and at 10:00 am at St. Patrick Church, Hubbard.

Friends may call at the funeral home on Wednesday, 3 to 5 and 7 to 9 pm.

Kathryn had requested that memorial contributions be made in her name to St. Patrick School, 38 East Water St., Hubbard, OH 44425, where she taught.
