HUBBARD Kathryn R. Scarpine Bossong, 82, died Sunday evening at Shepherd of the Valley in Boardman. She was born September 5, 1928 in Hubbard, a daughter of Joseph and Teresa Kraus Scarpine. Kathryn grew up in Hubbard and moved to the Washington DC area in 1946.
Mrs. Bossong worked for the Washington DC Department of Human Services for 39 and a half years, retiring in 1986. She was a member of St. Patrick Catholic Church and a charter member of the Hubbard VFW Post No. 3767 Auxiliary.
Kathryn was a 1946 graduate of Hubbard High School and a 1949 graduate of Capital City School of Nursing DC General Hospital. She received an award for outstanding and meritorious service in advancing world health care. Kathryn spent six months in Algeria at Beni Messous Hospital as the Chief Nurse to the medical team.
Her husband, Frank G. Bossong, whom she married October 6, 1997, died February 23, 2005.
She leaves two brothers, Joseph (Phyllis) Scarpine, Jr., of Youngstown and James V. (Patricia) Scarpine of Virginia Beach, VA; a sister, Mary Teresa (Hugh) McBride of Hubbard and several nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents.
Funeral services will be held Wednesday 11:00 AM at St. Patrick Church.
Family and friends may call on Wednesday 10:00 to 11:00 AM at church.
Burial will be at St. Patrick Cemetery.
