HUBBARD Josephine Sabatino, 96, died Saturday December 27, 2014 at Beeghly Oaks in Boardman. She was born in Akron, Ohio on September 15, 1918 to the late Frank and Carmella Calamaro who immigrated from Palermo Sicily.

Josephine was a hairdresser for over 50 years. She operated "Josette's", her first shop in Akron, when she was just 18 years old. She moved to Youngstown upon her marriage to the late Frank Sabatino. Josephine was a charter member of Immaculate Heart of Mary Catholic church. She moved to Hubbard in 1985. She was an active member of St. Patrick church, was past president of the Alter and Rosary Society and was a member of the choir.
She was a devoted and loving sister, mother and grandmother and was renowned for her award winning eggplant dish and Italian cookies. Josephine enjoyed sewing, knitting and crocheting and was also a volunteer at St. Elizabeth Health Center.

She leaves her children, Raymond (Alexis) of Canfield, Ronald of Florida, and JoAnn (Edward) Hallsky of Hubbard; Josephine was loved by and devoted to her grandchildren, Sarah Hallsky Lee (Ray), Kevin Hallsky (fiancee Amy Metea), and Elizabeth Panter (Josh) and great grandchildren, Olivia, Julia, and Ella Panter. They were the love of her life and she was very proud of them. She also leaves several nieces and nephews.

She was predeceased by her parents and four siblings, Mary Calamaro, Sue Maiolo, Rose Oliverio, and Angeline Spidare.

Funeral services will be held Tuesday at 11:00 AM at St. Patrick Roman Catholic Church.

Family and friends may call on Tuesday, one hour prior to the services from 10:00 AM to 11:00 AM at St. Patrick Roman Catholic Church.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be sent to the Hubbard St. Vincent DePaul Chapter or a charity of the donor's choice.

The family wishes to extend a special thank you to Martha and the entire staff of Beeghly Oaks for several years of compassionate care given to Josephine.

Josephine's final resting place will be at Maple Grove Cemetery.
