LAURENS, S.C., Joseph S. Tokasz, 83, formerly of Hubbard, died Saturday September 27, 2003 at his residence. He was born March 20, 1920 in New Alexandria, PA, a son of Peter and Anne Repko Tokasz, and lived most of his life in Hubbard, moving to Laurens in July of 2003.
Mr. Tokasz retired from Norman Transportation in Cleveland where he was a shop foreman for five years. Prior to this he worked for Keystone Transportation in Youngstown for 35 years. He was a very active member of St. Patrick's Church, Hubbard, Holy Name Society, Ball and Chain Square Dance Club, Hubbard Senior Citizens and was a Senior Citizen Tax Volunteer. He served in the United States Army Air Corp in WWII. Mr. Tokasz also enjoyed bowling and gardening.
He leaves his wife, the former Theresa Walko, whom he married August 22, 1944; one son, Thomas A. (Wanda) Tokasz, of Laurens, S.C.; one daughter Mary Ann (Mark) Beverly, of Columbia, S.C.; two brothers, Steve Tokash, of Massillon, OH, and Frank Tokash, of Youngstown; one sister, Mary Ferenchak, of Hollidaysburg, PA, five grandchildren and one great grandchild.
His parents and several brothers and sisters preceded him in death.
Funeral services will be held Thursday, 9:15 AM at the Kelley-Robb Funeral Home and 10:00 AM at St. Patrick Church, Hubbard.
Friends may call at the funeral home Wednesday from 5:00 to 8:00 PM.
