GIRARD Joseph N. "Pete" Kusmirek, 92, died Monday, September 28, 2009, at his residence. He was born September 7, 1917 in Youngstown, a son of Nicholas and Agnes Symanek Kusmirek and was a lifelong area resident.

Mr. Kusmirek was a crane man for U.S. Steel Co. for 43 years before retiring in 1979. Pete was a member of St. Casimir Church, Youngstown, a 1935 graduate of The Rayen High School and was an amateur radio operator with the call sign W8YPZ.

He leaves his wife, the former, Marge DeMatteo, whom he married November 16, 1940; two daughters, Patricia (Jack) Ralston of Vienna and Michele (John) DePinto of Girard; four grandchildren and seven great grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents, three brothers, Chester, Stanley and Theodore Kusmirek, a sister Helen Tait and a great great granddaughter.

Funeral services will be held at 11:00 am Friday at St. Patrick Church, Hubbard.

Family and friends may call at the church on Friday one hour prior to the services from 10:00 to 11:00 AM.

Arrangements were handled by the Kelley-Robb Funeral Home, Hubbard.
