Derenzo

GIRARD Joseph J. Derenzo, 83, died Thursday morning, September 2, 2010 at Briarfield at the Ridge. He was born November 22, 1926 in Lowellville, a son of Domenico and Addolorata DiRienzo and was a lifelong area resident.
Mr. Derenzo was a teacher at the Lordstown School System later becoming principal. He had previously been a teacher for the McDonald School System. Joe was a member of St. Patrick Church and served with the United States Army during World War II and the Korean War.
He received his Master's Degree from Westminster College and attended Youngstown College for his undergraduate studies. Joe was a member of the Trumbull Retired Teachers Association and worked for the LPGA Tournament for many years and also the library at Forum Health.
His first wife, the former Stella Simone, whom he married April 3, 1948, died March 5, 1996.
He leaves his second wife, the former Mary Jo Mozzillo Marino, whom he married January 10, 1998; three daughters, Nancy (Ron) Pontius of Poland, Evelyn (Dave) Keenan of Homeworth and Joni Derenzo of Boardman; a brother, Peter (Sylvia) DiRenzo of Mayfield; three sisters, Pearl DeRoos of Tacoma, WA, Jenne Mobilia of North East, PA and Delores (Danis) Dincer of Marietta, GA; 7 grandchildren and 9 great grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents; an infant daughter; a sister, Joann Parisi and two brothers, Dominic DiRienzo and George DeRenzo.
Funeral services will be held Tuesday 9:30 AM at the Kelley-Robb Funeral Home and 10:00 AM at St. Patrick Church.
Family and friends may call on Monday, 4:00 to 7:00 PM at the funeral home.
Memorial donations may be made to Hospice House, 9803 Sharrott Rd., Poland, OH 44514.
Burial will be at Holy Rosary Cemetery, Lowellville.
