HUBBARD John M. Vasko, 83, died Saturday afternoon, June 18, 2011 at Northside Hospital Medical Center. He was born July 6, 1927 in Sharon, a son of George and Mary Ceholnay Vasko and was a lifelong area resident.
Mr. Vasko was a self employed barber at John's Barber Shop in Wheatland for 40 years and also worked at Federal Wholesale retiring in 1990. John served with the United States Air Corp and was a member of St. Patrick Church.
He leaves his wife of almost 59 years, the former Ann Chestnut, whom he married June 21, 1952; a son, Tom (Kathy) Vasko of Cleveland; a daughter, Gail DeMaiolo of Canfield; two brothers, Nick (Eileen) Vasko of Cleveland and Bill (Caroline) Vasko of Hermitage; a sister Helen of Florida and three grandchildren, Nicholas, Steven and Alicia DeMaiolo.
He was preceded in death by his parents, two sons, an infant Robert Vasko and John M. Vasko II; two sisters, Martha Stratter and Rose Barker and a brother, George Vasko.
Funeral services will be held Thursday 9:30 AM at the Kelley-Robb Funeral Home and 10:00 AM at St. Patrick Church.
Family and friends may call on Wednesday 5:00 to 8:00 PM at the funeral home.
Burial will be at Hubbard Union Cemetery.
