Obituary


YOUNGSTOWN Funeral services will be held at 1:00 PM Monday at the Kelley-Robb Funeral Home, Hubbard, for John A. Smith, 73 of 1750 Atkinson St. who died of a respiratory illness Thursday morning at his residence. He was born June 11, 1927, in Hubbard, a son of Thomas and Hazel Smith and was a life long area resident.

Mr. Smith was an auto mechanic and worked 15 years for Excell Auto Glass retiring in 1989. Prior to this he worked for Uniroyal Tire and Aamco Transmissions. He was of the Protestant faith and was a former member of the American Legion of Hubbard. He enjoyed hunting, the CB radio, going by the name of Long John Silver, and also enjoyed working on cars. He was an Army veteran of World War II.

His wife, the former Evelyn Peterson, whom he married April 3, 1948, died October 26, 1998. He leaves a son, John R. Smith of Youngstown; two brothers, Thomas Smith of Wisconsin and Richard Smith of Arizona; a sister, Isabelle Gruber of Florida; four grandchildren and two great grandchildren. A brother, Robert Smith is deceased.

Friends may call at the Kelley-Robb Funeral Home, Hubbard on Sunday, 5 to 8 PM.
