HUBBARD John Joseph Slick, 77, died Thursday evening May 21, 2026 at his home. He was born October 19, 1948 in Johnstown, PA a son of Robert and Ellen Plummer Slick and came to Youngstown in 1954 and then to Hubbard.

Mr. Slick, a 1966 graduate of Ursuline High School earned his Associate Degree in Engineering at Youngstown State University and was of the Catholic faith. He worked in engineering at Ohio Edison and then was superintendent for the City of Hubbard Electric Department, retiring in the early 2000’s. John was a social member of the Hubbard VFW Post No. 3767, enjoyed golfing and bowling having been on several teams over the years. He was an avid Cleveland Browns fan and enjoyed the many friendships he made in Hubbard.

John leaves his sister, Sr. Mary Slick H.M. of Girard and several cousins whom he loved.

Family and friends may call on Friday June 12, 2026 from 9:30 AM to 10:00 AM at the Kelley-Cummins Funeral Home. A prayer service will follow at 10:00 AM lead by the Sisters of the Humility of Mary.

John’s final resting place will be at St. Bartholomew Cemetery in Wilmore, PA.
