Obituary


A Mass of Christian Burial will be offered at 11:00 a.m. Saturday, October 17, 2015 in St. Patrick Catholic Church in Hubbard with Fr. Michael Swierz officiating, for John S. Pieton, Jr., 78, of Hubbard, who passed away Monday, October 12, 2015 at 1:04 a.m. at St. Elizabeth Medical Center Main Campus in the surgical intensive care unit after suffering a fall at home.

Mr. Pieton was born on August 3, 1937 in Youngstown, the son of the late John S. Sr. and Pauline (Skruck) Pieton and was a lifelong area resident.

A 1955 graduate of Hubbard High School, John furthered his education by attending ATES Technical School in Niles with a degree in drafting. John retired from the former Commercial Intertech, now Parker Hannifin, where he started as a line worker and retired in 1995 as a supervisor of engineering after working for 32 years.

John was currently serving the Hubbard Community as part-time Township Zoning Administrator for the last 20 years. He was active with the Hubbard Conservation Club, where he was currently serving as its membership chairman. John was past president of the Hubbard Community Youth League for 20 years; 18 years as president, which led to a field being named in his honor. He was also instrumental in bringing soccer to the Hubbard community.

John was proprietor of the 7P Tree Farm in Hubbard and belonged to the Northeast Ohio Christmas Tree Growers Association

John was a member of St. Patrick Catholic Church in Hubbard and was past member of the Finance Committee under Fr. Hughes. He enjoyed fishing and hunting at his cabin in the Alleghany mountains and was most fond and proud of his grandchildren.

John persevered many challenges during his life and was a proud member of the amputee support group at the Western Reserve Orthotics and Prosthesis since 2001.

John was married to the former Marjorie "Marge" Murphy, whom he married on October 31, 1959 and together they shared the love of five children Brian Pieton of Gardeners, PA, Dave (Diane) Pieton of Allison Park, PA, Pamela (James) Good of Hubbard, Patrick (Diane) Pieton of Fawn Grove, PA and Michael (Marla) Pieton of Hubbard; and ten grandchildren James Good, Amanda and Brittany Wienecke, Daniel Good, Ryan, Mackenzie, Luke, Patrick, Maddox and Maverick Pieton. John is also survived by a brother James (Cindy) Pieton of McDonald and two sisters Dolores Pieton of North Lima and Julianne Pieton of North Lima.

Besides his parents, John was preceded death by a sister Pauline Hunter.

Family and friends may call from 6:00 until 8:00 p.m. on Friday, October 16, 2015 in the Kelley-Robb-Cummins Funeral Home and from 10:00 until 10:50 a.m. on Saturday, October 17, 2015 in the Narthex at St. Patrick Catholic Church in Hubbard.

Burial will take place in Hubbard Union Cemetery.
