John "Jack" Moran's Obituary


HUBBARD John J. "Jack" Moran, 85, of Hubbard, died Friday evening, July 14, 2006 at St. Elizabeth Health Center. He was born on February 6, 1921 in Elwood, IN, a son of John J. and Susan Flynn Moran, moving to Sharon, PA as a child and living in Hubbard since 1950.

Mr. Moran was the Director of Labor Relations, Assistant Corporate Secretary and Attorney for Commercial Shearing & Stamping Corporation for 27 years, retiring in 1986. Prior to this, he was the Assistant Superintendent at Youngstown Sheet & Tube Corporation. He graduated from John Carroll University and the Youngstown College School of Law in 1952. Jack was a member of St. Patrick Church in Hubbard, a volunteer for the American Red Cross and a member of the Mahoning & Ohio State County Bar Associations since 1952. He was a former member of the Chesterton Club and the MVIMA. Jack served as a Lieutenant in the U.S. Marine Corps in the Pacific war zone during World War II and participated in the Okinawa Campaign.

His wife, the former Kathleen Murphy, whom he married on October 7, 1950, died on February 20, 1996.

He leaves three sons, John J. (Jean) Moran of Sandusky, OH; Patrick J. (Kathy) Moran of Mechanicsville, VA and Kevin D. Moran of Hubbard; a daughter, Maureen (Chuck) Dunick of Columbus, OH; a sister, Patricia Emery of Holidaysburg, PA and seven grandchildren.

Besides his wife, his parents, two brothers, Owen Lawrence and James Moran and two sisters, Mary Duffey and Margaret Moran, preceded him in death.

Funeral services will be held on Tuesday, 9:15 a.m. at the Kelley-Robb Funeral Home and at 10:00 a.m. at St. Patrick Church in Hubbard. Interment will be at Hubbard Union Cemetery where full military services will be provided by the Trumbull County Honor Guard Service.

Friends may call from 5:00 to 8:00 p.m. on Monday at the funeral home.
