Obituary


HUBBARD John W. "Jack" Glod, 79, died Monday evening April 20, 2015 at Hospice House. He was born January 20, 1936, a son of John J. and Mary E. Robb Glod.

Mr. Glod was a 1954 graduate of Hubbard High School, attended Ohio State University and was a graduate of Youngstown State University. He was plant engineer for Sherwin Williams Co. in Hubbard for 19 years, was a plant sales manager at HV Industries in the east coast area and lastly was a sales manager for EKL Industries. Jack was a member of Central Christian Church in Hubbard, the Hubbard Conservation Club and the National Rifle Association of America.

Jack held his private pilot license and loved flying. Jack was truly a "Jack of All Trades", with many skills and hobbies. He enjoyed cooking and sharing recipes with family and friends. Jack loved spending time with his family and also enjoyed having breakfast with his friends at Burger King every morning. He will be sadly missed by his children, grandchildren and his fiancée Geraldine Hallapy.

His wife of 51 years, the former Shirley R. Christy, died November 24, 2007.

Jack leaves his fiancée, Geraldine E. Hallapy; a son, Michael J. Glod of Jameston, PA; two daughters, Cheryl "Cherie" (Glenn) Johnson of Hubbard and Christine Barrett (Mike Herring) of Langhorne, PA; two brothers, Ed (Doni) Glod of Chicago and Robert (Marsha) Glod of Pittsburgh; five grandchildren, Jared Johnson, Monique Barrett, Zachary Barrett, Kristopher Johnson and Derek Barrett.

He was preceded in death by his parents and his brother Charles Glod.

Memorial services will be held Thursday at 1:00 PM at Central Christian Church with Pastor Bob Hitchcock officiating.

There are no calling hours.

Memorial donations may be made to Central Christian Church, 44 S. Main St., Hubbard, OH or to Hospice of the Valley, 5190 Market St., Boardman, OH 44512.

Jack's final resting place will be at Hubbard Union Cemetery.

Arrangements are being handled by the Kelley-Robb-Cummins Funeral Home.
