HUBBARD John Gaborko, 89, of Hubbard, died Monday morning, February 4, 2008, at UPMC Horizon in Farrell, PA. He was born on April 3, 1918, in Florence, PA, a son of Michael and Mary Shirilla Gaborko and lived most of his life in the area.
Mr. Gaborko was a welder for U. S. Steel Products in Masury for 24 years, retiring in 1983, and also owned and operated Dominic's Wine Shop in Hubbard for 25 years. He joined the CCC in 1937 based in Idaho, was a member of First Presbyterian Church in Hubbard and a 1937 graduate of Brookfield High School. John enjoyed spending time with his family and was an avid Cleveland sports fan.
His wife, the former Irene Hedwig Dudarewicz, whom he married on June 15, 1957, died on January 22, 2002.
He leaves a son, Jonathan (Rhonda) Gaborko of Hubbard; a daughter, Marjean Spencer of Hubbard; a brother, Michael Gaborko of Sewickley, PA; 6 grandchildren; 8 great-grandchildren and a great-great grandchild.
Besides his wife, preceding him in death were his parents, four brothers, George, Nicholas, Steve and Theodore and three sisters, Mary, Helen and Verna.
Memorial services will be held at 7:00 p.m. on Saturday at the First Presbyterian Church, 22 West View Avenue in Hubbard. A reception will follow in the church fellowship hall, immediately after the service.
There are no calling hours.
Arrangements are being handled by the Kelley-Robb Funeral Home in Hubbard.
