Our mother Jo Ann was a beacon of love and light in our lives. Devoted wife to her beloved Edward of 43 years, Jo Ann's greatest achievement in life was getting to watch her grandchildren through their early years. Jo Ann attended Kent State University with the goal of becoming an English teacher, but was offered a lucrative position at Strauss Company in Youngstown. In 1980 she was introduced to the love of her life her beloved Edward. She was a devoted wife of 43 years and they enjoyed several trips to South Carolina with their family and spent the last several years enjoying sunsets at their lake house in Madison, Ohio.

After her youngest was born, she took a position in case management at Saint Elizabeth's Hospital in Youngstown where she would retire as the secretary for the Research and Education Department 23 years later. She made several lasting friendships there most notably with Dr. Barreiro, who would become the most instrumental physician in her care coordination through the end of her life.

To cherish her memory, Jo Ann leaves her beloved husband, Edward, daughter, Sarah, son, Kevin (Amy) Hallsky and three beautiful granddaughters, Rosalyn, Nora and Emery, and several in-laws, nieces, nephews, great nieces, and great nephews for which she loved deeply.

She was preceded in death by her mother, Josephine and brothers Raymond and Ronald Sabatino.

We would like to extend our deepest gratitude to Dr. Barreiro for his decades of compassionate and thorough care that allowed her to live with dignity and grace up until the end of her life. We'd like to thank the Hubbard fire department paramedics, Mercy Youngstown ICU, and intermediate care staff for their incredible care of Jo Ann in her final days.

Jo Ann loved her family more than anything, but sometimes she may have said she loved Cleveland sports more. She will be remembered fondly as the most devoted, mother and wife and grandmother we could have ever wanted.

Family and friends may call on Friday August 16, 2024 from 11:30 AM to 12:30 PM at St. Patrick's Roman Catholic Church in Hubbard, Ohio. Memorial services will follow at 12:30 PM at the church, with The Very Rev. Michael Balash officiating.
