HUBBARD Jerry E. "Mountain" Morrison, 74, died Sunday evening November 25, 2012 at St. Elizabeth Hospital Medical Center. He was born November 19, 1939 in Youngstown, a son of George Edgar and Margaret Ruth Whitacre Morrison and was a lifelong Struthers and Hubbard resident.
Mr. Morrison was a graduate of The Rayen High School and through a government program went to mechanic's school. He was employed by S & H Stamp Complex, Republic Steel in the railroad division. He also worked construction for various different companies through the Teamster Local No. 377 where he was responsible for the building of Route 680 and also many area bridges and highways. Mountain was active in the LTV Retiree Pension Solidarity Marches and was a member of the New Life Christian Fellowship Church.
Mountain organized the Struthers Little Wildcats known as the Buckeye Wildcats and also coached one of the teams. He was a past Grand Noble of the Odd Fellows and served as treasurer. Mountain was a member of the OUTCAST Car Club, his 1968 Corvette Stingray was his pride and joy. He was well known for building race car engines.
Mountain would frequent C's Waffle's and Truck World in Hubbard for coffee with his friends. He enjoyed going to casinos loved to travel to Florida and spend time with his dog Spencer.
He leaves his first wife, Carol A. Baker whom he married September 9, 1961; four children; Mark Edgar Morrison of Elkhart, IN, Scott Morrison of Hubbard, Kim A. Morrison of Struthers and Margaret Ann (Eric) Porter of Struthers; a sister, Michelle Tirabassi of Arizona; four grandchildren, Kelly Morrison, Erin Morrison, Matthew Morrison and Ryan Porter and numerous nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents; his second wife, whom he spent the last 39 years of his life with, the former Denise G. Stinson, who died January 17, 2011; a sister, Charlene Morrison and two nephews, Samuel Tirabassi Jr. and Joey Whitacre.
Family and friends may call on Thursday 5:00 to 8:00 PM at the Kelley-Robb-Cummins Funeral Home.
Funeral services will be held Friday 11:00 AM at the Kelley-Robb-Cummins Funeral Home.
He will be sadly missed by his family and friends.
Interment will be at Belmont Park Cemetery.
