Obituary

Jean Catherine Morosky, 76, formerly of Hubbard, died Thursday afternoon, May 23, 2024, at Sem Haven Health Care in Milford, Ohio surrounded by loved ones.  She was born on January 23, 1948, in Youngstown, Ohio to Bill and Irene Schroeder.

Jean, a 1966 graduate of North High School, was a member of the Good Shepherd Lutheran Church in Cincinnati, Ohio. She was an avid churchgoer, gardener and shopper.  She was also an excellent pizzelle maker and taught her children and grandchildren how to make them.

She was a realtor most of her life, beginning her career with Northern Hills Real Estate and eventually opening her own agency aptly named the Morosky Company. In 1993, she moved to Cincinnati to be closer to her two youngest children and worked for M/I Homes, one of the largest homebuilders in the area. Jean won the Excalibur Lifetime Achievement Award not once but twice during this time. In total, she sold over 155 million dollars' worth of real estate. She helped hundreds of families find their homes and became friends with many of them. After a brief hiatus to take care of her ailing mother, Jean went back to real estate working for Fischer Homes and Ryan Homes until she retired.

Jean loved her children, her parents, her siblings, her friends, and her grandchildren more than anything.  She was known as Nana, a title she wore with pride. She loved music and could often be found dancing in the kitchen and encouraging everyone else to join in. She would enjoy spending New Year's Eve with her grandchildren, eating junk food, staying up late and banging pots and pans at midnight. A tradition they will always remember and continue.

Jean was one of the most giving people you have ever encountered. She would go without to help others. If you knew her personally, you were lucky to have had her in your life even for a brief moment. She was an inspiration to all and will be deeply missed.

Jean was diagnosed with Alzheimer's disease in 2019.  The disease actually took her from her family much earlier than her actual passing did, but during that time she got to relive her childhood and not have to worry so much about adulthood.  She got to enjoy all the simple things in life such as her love for music, dancing, animals and her love for babies, as she did not go far without her favorite baby doll.

Jeannie, as she was lovingly called, leaves behind her three daughters from her previous marriage to Charles Morosky. Kathryn Morosky of Hubbard, Holly Rubin of Hudson, Ohio, and Monica Hammer and her husband Matthew of Loveland, Ohio; a brother, Joseph Schroeder and his wife Patricia of Hubbard; a sister, Elizabeth Evans and her husband Charles of Hubbard; four grandchildren, Kailey and Charlie Hammer and Mason and Hudson Rubin and numerous nieces, nephews and great nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Bill and Irene Schroeder, and brother, Bill Schroeder Jr..
